We haven't settled on a name yet, but ones on our list for consideration include Bingley (my favourite), Tiggywinkle (Kyle's favourite), Chinois (because we originally talked about buying a small pet for our second anniversary and naming it "Cotton" or "China") or Chauncy (Darcie's suggestion, which we also like). We'll keep you posted on the final decision.
A lady in the pet store asked us what made us decide to buy a hedgehog. "Because we can," I told her. Admittedly, they're not the most social, creatures. They sleep all day but, apparently walk the equivelant of five miles every night. They're not particularily cuddly - although they're as cute as all get out (whatever that means). Mostly, we just like the quirkiness of them. And I've wanted one since university, when a friend and I started this running joke about "Petite Hérisson." She even gave me a stuffed hérisson, which I still have and Oliver prefers over most of his own stuffies.
So here are some shots with the little guy ( or gal - we're not quite sure yet):

What an adorable little beastie!! I think you should have a fun time with him/her. I love Bingly for a name. If it turns out to be a "him" you could call him Mr. Bingley! Good Luck with your new pet! How does Sarah Vaughn like him?
We're just hoping she (SV) doesn't try to use Nameless Hedgehog's enclosure as a litter box, what with all the soft, fresh bedding mulch. But then she would only do it once if he got in her way!
Oh - I actually DO like Mr. Bingley. But how about a name that denotes more of an annoyance, like Mr. Collins? Mr. Collins just reminds me of a person who just snoops around - and is in your face. That is what I see when I see your new pet.
It's a BOY!!!
And we're going to go with Tiggywinkle as a name.
Interesting, we have a dog named Twiggy, but she is slightly bigger... :-)
I think he is adorable though - I've always loved hedgehogs! I don't think it is possible to get them as pets here in Norway...and I think Victor might think we have enough pets with our fishtank, two large dogs and three rabbits :-)
What does Oliver make of him?
That's a pretty big menagerie!
Oliver likes him, but we don't let him get too close. He has the stuffed one, though, which he loves to haul around by the nose.
You guys are either super human or nuts. I can't imagine getting another living creature to take care of at this stage in the game. It's all I can handle with the husband, the baby, the cat, and the fish.
Let's settle for super human ;^)
