water baby

Oliver went swimming for the second time today, at our local public swimming pool. While it can be tricky with all the big 5-7 year-olds shoving and splashing each other in what I believe is supposed to be the baby pool, Oliver loves it and can't get enough. We tend to stay for about an hour, but my guess is he'd spend the afternoon kicking and splashing and floating around if he could. About time he puts his kicking legs to good use (for those who haven't seen first hand, they almost NEVER stop going, which might also explain why he can't keep weight on - he has the metabolism of a humming bird!). Anyway, here are a few shots from today's adventure (pictured with him is Auntie Kelly, while Mummy stayed safely behind the camera!).

Oliver is the cutest fish ever! He sure is enjoying himself isn't he. I love his bathing suit!

I miss all the fun at work :-( Guess we will just have to get a membership at the pool so we can anytime, like weekends. And we can't forget the apples!

Apples?! What, are you planning on having the biggest bobbing-for-apples contest EVER???

As cool of an idea as that is (performance art... some day)... no... when I was young, one of my fondest memories of going to the swimming pool was being super hungry after swimming, and purchasing an apple for a quarter from an apple vending machine just outside the change room! I just started associating eating apples with swimming in chlorinated water. Like the craving for McDonalds when I am sick... it's comfort food! But that's another story.
