One of the first questions people like to ask when they know I am with child is, "whatchya gonna call it?"
A piece of advice from Kyle's co-worker: Don't reveal the name until the baby is born and named and people know the topic is not up for debate.
It seems cagey and paranoid to actually tell people that, when they're just trying to make conversation, so I've come up with a few more "fun" answers. What follows is a list of names we will likely not name the babe, but wouldn't it be fun if we did?
After all, I don't think Hollywood has the exclusive rights to all things madcap.
To go with the name Poirier ("pear tree"):
Bartlett
Anjou
Bosc
Peary (instead of Perry)
Apple
Functional:
Gurle (if it's a girl)
Bowie (if it's a boy)
Manley (boy)
Kidd (either gender)
Childe (either gender)
Tricksy:
Mallaidh (pronounced "Molly")
Riognach (Pronounced "Re-O-nah")
Aoibheann (pronounced "EEV-uhn")
(I actually really like these names but won't even think about trying to convince Kyle!)
Whimsical:
Dandelion Fairy (girl)
Bottom (boy)
Borat (either)
Sue - as in "A Boy Named..." (either)
Nils (that one's for Liam)
24601
Rum Tum Tugger
Ting Tong
And to really piss it off someday:
Penelope Posh My Pom-Pom Poirier (admittedly, we were up late and giddy when we constructed that one)
Anything to add?

I couldn't possibly come up with any names of this calibre. I think Avery could though. She suggested Onion, or Kalamalka.
