birthday wolsey

Oliver turned two last month and celebrated with a small, family gathering featuring hotdogs, cupcakes and presies. We figured we'd save the splashy kid parties for when he actually starts to care. A good time was had by all, however, especially The Boy, who even condescended to nosh a cupcake (or part of one, anyway). In keeping with the spirit of things. Here are some shots of the fete...

The cupcakes

The guests, from L -> R: Aunty, cousin Avery, Oma, Grandmama, Grandma, cousin Liam and Gina.

Those cupcakes look like something straight out of Real Simple or similar. Who made them?

Scarlett's not so much about the sweets, either. Hope it lasts. Sure it won't. I once had a student who was 11 who absolutely hated sweets of all types. Lucky kid, eh? Wish I had that gene.

We ordered the cupcakes from a co-worker of Kyle's who works part time at the gallery but also operates a small, burgeoning cupcake business. They were as fab as they looked!

Give Scarlett another six months. While Oliver still prefers fruit as a sweet treat, around the time he turned two he started being more open minded to tasting sweets like cake, jello or, today, Revels. Seriously, just about two months ago, he wouldn't even TASTE the ice cream cone we got him - no way, uh-ugh! Now, he's curious enough to sample but still not gorge. Hopefully he (and Scarlett too) will continue to keep things in moderation!
